Omicron Coronavirus Till Date in India

• Omicron variant detected in Delhi, Mumbai, Gujarat and Karnataka.
• Five cases of Omicron in India till now; Areas with over 3 cases to be classified as clusters in Karnataka.

• A coronavirus variant has been detected that contains a high number of mutations within its spike protein, some of which may help the virus to evade vaccine-induced immune protection.

World Health Organisation had designated it as a Variant of Concern, which shows it is quite likely to be extremely transmissible and potentially replace the dominant Delta variant.

Although the full implications of the discovery are currently unclear, scientists have emphasized the need for continued surveillance and stressed that protective measures such as social distancing, mask-wearing, and vaccination (where available) will help to limit its spread.

There has been resurge in covid cases post festivities. Covid can occur post-vaccination in a few cases.

Kindly get yourself and family members sampled, if

• you have come in contact with covid positive case
• you have traveled out of the district
• you have attended the social gathering with more than 20 people where the mask was not used and adequate social distancing was not practiced
• you are suffering from flu-like symptoms (mild/high-grade fever, cough and cold, body ache)

Kindly encourage your near and dear ones, to get themselves vaccinated with both doses of covishield/covaxin including Maids, car-washers, and casual labours .
